Following is a brief overview of JWW Consulting:
JWW Consulting was formed after I left Meridian Rail Corp. in May, 2003, as a response to a need I saw in the rail supply industry in North America. I have been involved in that industry for the past 43 years. (Please see "John Waite" tab) I began to visit China in March, 2002 when the second of two joint ventures ABC Rail Products and NACO Inc. formed in China was officially opened. Since that time I have made over 40 trips representing my former company as well as several clients. The opportunities in China, and not only in the rail industry, for companies to promote and sell their products, as well as source components, are excellent. China is a huge market which is rapidly developing and it has a need for advanced products and technologies. Companies in North America who have excellent products and a desire to broaden their markets to China have significant opportunities. JWW Consulting is designed to simplify and facilitate the exploration and potential entry of these companies into the Chinese market.
One of the difficulties companies face in first coming to China is being able to identify potential customers, suppliers and partners. The first service JWW can provide a new client is a market review, before the first trip is even taken, which does identify those potentials and establishes contacts and schedules meetings for the client to make on their initial visit. Key in doing that are the contacts I have made during the past six years in China. Since April 2004, I have been fortunate enough to have a young man, Li Zhiguo (Lee), working with me in China. (Please see "Li Zhiguo" tab) Lee is the Manager of our China operations. He communicates constantly on behalf of our clients with their partners, customers and suppliers. We also work very closely with Liu Yuzhuo (Mr. Liu), the recently retired President of Zhuzhou Rolling Stock Works, the second largest freight car builder in China. His contacts throughout the rail industry and with the Ministry of Railways (MOR) are invaluable. He also “opens the doors” to other industry groups through those extensive contacts. China is still very much a business environment of “who you know” - and Mr. Liu provides our clients with that access. The three of us work together to identify contacts for clients to consider and meet with upon their initial visits to China.
Another significant service JWW can provide is assistance to companies relative to logistics (import or export) and the rules and regulations of doing business in China. This can include developing confidentiality and non-compete agreements, as well as handling all paperwork required for sending products in and out of China. One of the major concerns many companies have when they begin to think about doing business in China relates to the protection of their intellectual property. This has been addressed, in various ways, for all our clients and we can also help identify the proper protection needed for new businesses. In addition, we have been involved in establishing joint ventures, “partnerships”, and manufacturing and supply, technology licensing, cooperation, distribution and non-disclosure agreements for our clients with companies in China.
